- Cloud (i.e. heroku, GAE, firebase, IBM)
- Git bare repo on any cloud storage (mega, dropbox, gdrive, box)

I used to make random interactive frontend code/art projects. Haven't maintain them in a while. But I'm looking through them now and am shocked that they're not broken. Or that herokuapp hasn't died on me.

@ChaseHoldren I'm hosting my own instance of peerjs-server as their free one seemed to be down quite often. But the server just facilitates the initial connection between the peers. So I just spun up a free heroku instance to host that.

Not using a PAAS like @heroku and instead managing your own infra for everything.
Unless you need to get really down an dirty with server/db/network performance. Farm it out to someone like @heroku and focus your effort on the software you’re actually providing to users.

@benbrown So my boy is deployed on heroku and I’m trying to embed it in a react site. I first fought through figuring out how to get that all set up so it could actually see the code for the bot, then I ran into an issue now where it’s complaining about cross site cookies and won’t connect

What is the best way to distribute .env variables for your development environment to your eng team? Is there a way to easily sync it down from heroku env's? Store it in git?

... until I tried to deploy. I tried Heroku, AWS and Azure. Ran into different problems and was extremely frustrated. The issue with Heroku was that the size of the libraries (Tensorflow, Numpy etc) was greater than storage space available for free dynos 3/n

@TheRoku Holy **** dude! My Strattera gives me such bad reflux it feels like chemical burns down my throat if I don't take it with food. I forgot once and it was so bad that the taste of the meds made me panic for weeks afterwards. I have never felt such pain. And reflux meds don't help

@excalidraw @heroku For anyone reading, Heroku single $7/dyno has been awesome, it has been super reliable and hasn't needed any maintenance. We pushed a bad revision that started throwing 500 errors which, if alerts were enabled, would have led to fixing the issue instantly instead of 9 hours later

First stab at using @fastifyjs tonight. I hit some learning curves since I'm so used to Express. Current issue is that my routes aren't bound using Autoload in my docker/heroku deployment, but they are locally 🤔. Took me a bit to figure out how to pair it with Throng as well.

@elight @tastapod @heroku No problem with CTOs and EMs taking a DIY approach as long as they swap from ‘buy’ to ‘build/DIY’ at the right point in the value chain.
Don’t spend thousands/millions on salaries/HW when you can buy at a cheaper higher level, and ‘build’ just the right amount of value on top.

@tastapod I know plenty of people whose problem is that giving their teams AWS accounts and saying 'go for it' is a foot gun, and what they want is Heroku but cheaper and tailored to their org.
If that's not the problem you're solving by building an internal k8s platform, then sure...

@monkchips Hopefully you can address the issue that there's an in group that talk about buildpacks like everybody should know what they are, and an out group who haven't got a clue what they are. Which group you're in seems to very much come down to whether you did Heroku in your youth :/

@misterhtmlcss I've try it for my Laravel project. The issue is the cost of having lot of thing. You pay min 5$ for the managing this is good I'm happy with that. But the db cost min 7$ for a non prod one. So it's 12 bucks for a project non production vs free example on Heroku.
