That seems a reasonable evolution in writing tools given the pace of grammar suggestions even in Word and Grammarly. Editing requires knowledge and practice. It’s not engaging at all that is the issue.

When you construct a sentence and Grammarly says there's an advanced issue that can only be corrected with Premium. You try to restructure the sentence and the errors increase. Just forget that sentence

I get people have disorders like dyslexia, (like a couple of my family members💙), and it takes a lot of effort to get writing down precisely. But when you’re a news outlet like @YahooNews ,(there are others), please proofread to get it right. #GrammarlyApp

It's a fun exercise to load some unedited work into Grammarly (free) and try to figure out what the issues are with the advanced suggestions they flag but don't explain unless you have premium. If you fix it yourself, the yellow lines go away.

If the student was doing this then honestly I’m not sure I have a problem with it. I use Grammarly and don’t see how it’s fundamentally different.
If it’s input, take the output and submit it that’s 👎

Tools/services such as Grammarly offer rewrite-options, based on commonality.
So if G were to look at targeting MGC,
such things could prove problematic.

You also know the literacy and education level is going down when nobody corrects your spelling and you need Grammarly to cheat on your projects because you can't string a coherent sentence together.

@TobiasYBLD I paid for an editor just prior to my preparation for publication, & didn't hire a proofreader (funds were tight) as a very last step. I let Grammarly tell me (or at least suggest) what to fix & how. I regret that decision, and won't make that mistake again. Hire the proofreader.
