@AaditDoshi the main problem was that it tried to compete with established systems. When others offered mobile solutions like GeForceNow that lets you access your already existing Library instead of forcing you to buy a new one

@Romudeth Agreed. Geforce Now an xcloud aren't my cup of tea BUT I do see how they can appeal to people and the model works ok actually. With Google the problem is no one trusts them with their games library. Wrong speak and you lose everything.

@PakistaniPepper @tha_rami Nvidia's Geforce Now is working, sort of.
I think the core issue is that people hate having their games spread across multiple services - they want them all in one place. So to compete with Steam you need to pour m***ive amounts of money into it, like Epic is.

@RetroRentsAl @CapnMikeM @ZTGD IMO, still comes down to double dipping. In a world of GameP***, PS+, GeForce Now, etc., you can't expect people to buy a game upfront, them continue to pay each month to access it.
Everyone being home with their tangible hardware for 2 years didn't help them either.

cloud gaming doesn’t work, in my experience
Xbox Cloud Gaming has so much latency and compression artifacts it’s unplayable

100% this. Stadia's cloud tech worked and it is awesome. It was Google themselves who let it slip through their fingers.
GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming & others in the cloud gaming space are very much alive and well and they shouldn't be written off because of Stadia's closure.

@BinksMagnus @OnTheDownLoTho @geoffkeighley I agree on that. GeForce Now appeals to both markets and that’s why it dominates so much. Honestly the big issue with Stadia was that there was no existing ecosystem of games to leverage. GeForce Now has Steam, Xcloud has Xbox, Stadia required you to buy all your games full price from them. That plus Google's reputation meant it was doomed from the start.

The model left no option to play games that people already owned nor a accessible subscription.
