Modern systems are awesome. Today, for about 5 hours, we were unable to deploy new builds of our software. GitHub was working fine. Our servers were fine and connected and could reach GitHub.
But there seems to have been an outage between Azure and DigitalOcean.

@AzureSupport While I'm pleased that this has been resolved and was an issue on @digitalocean 's end. I wasted most of my morning attempting to get in contact with @AzureSupport via the Azure website. Twitter should not be where a person needs to go for support...

every year compute costs goes down, not up. yet, they charge more.
we are still on exponential curves for compute, storage, & dc bandwidth according to moore's law.

@DigitalOcean needs to track down the relevant IPs and act accordingly, but I shouldn't have to be penalized in the meantime.
Since my IP isn't actually involved, I've paid to add my IP to their whitelist db ($90 for 2yrs) -- sure feels like a grift to me.

Codoozer and https://t.co/6ezZs66TXw are working again. We had a long day trying to fix it. We found out that DigitalOcean (our hosting provider) had updated Kubernetes and the new version was not compatible with our Traefik version. We're really sorry for all the trouble caused

@coolaj86 @mholt6 @digitalocean And it didn't take long for the other VPS providers to meet or undercut DigitalOcean pricing while remaining profitable. New competitors have appeared and remain profitable as well.
At any rate, migrating a cluster of droplets to LightSail was easy. Not my issue anymore.

The dollar is down at least 30% and is going to keep going down.
When the dollar is going down by 3%/yr, but tech is up way more than that, no problem.
But as we hit the limits of atoms and the free market is being crushed...
